Elegantly and succintly sums up the potential of social media marketing -- a phenomenon that can be notoriously difficult to define with any precision. I agree that it is more than merely targeting ads to likely buyers, but the opportunity to engage the consumer in a reciprocal and interactive relationship. It creates, as Mr. Goldhar recognizes, a virtuous cycle of closer and more positive (and more targeted) understanding between the marketer and consumer.
